“A senhora Elizabeth Mills, esposa do Excelentíssimo Thomas Mills, nasceu em Stoke Newington, Inglaterra, 1805... Ela escreveu este hino cerca de três semanas antes de seu falecimento em Finsbury Place, Londres, em 21 de Abril de 1829, aos 24 anos.” (The story of the hymns and tunes de Theron Brown e Hezekiah Butterworth: American Tract Society, 1906, p. 307)
