Daniel Webster Whittle (1840-1901) foi major do Exército americano e escreveu hinos evangélicos famosos como "Deus prometeu com certeza chuvas de graça mandar..." (There shall be showers of blessing) e "Um pendão real vos entregou o Rei..." (There's a royal banner given for display), entre outros.
Em 1857, Daniel W. Whittle se mudou para Chicago, e lá ele se converteu ao Evangelho.
Daniel W. Whittle deixou seu próspero trabalho para dedciar-se integralmente ao trabalho evangelístico.
Daniel W. Whittle realizou reuniões evangelísticas na Inglaterra, Irlanda, e Escócia.
